Pitchfork Opening Night Party
Could anyone be more excited about Pitchfork Fest than I??? I'm guessing not. If any of ya'll will be in the Chicagoland area the night before the indie-gasm fest, join me at the Opening Night Party Friday July 28 at the METRO. Headlining is Sunset Rubdown the FANTASTIC sideproject of Wolf Parade's Spencer Krug. Also there will be Indie-pop darlings Voxtrot promoting their latest EP, as well as comedian/writer/filmaker Eugene Mirman who has opened for comedy group Stella, The Shins, and Modest Mouse.
It is my sincerest hope that Wolf Parade will be appearing at Pitchfork Fest. With one of their members in town the night before, I'm beginning to wonder if that might actually come to fruition. Two more months to go! |

PITCHFORK FEST (((The NEW Intonation Festival)))
Pitchfork has begun to announce the artists that are going to be featured at their festival in Chicago this year. So far this is what we've got:
Ted Leo/The Pharmacists Jens Lekman The National Mission of Burma Hot Machine
Another 30-or-so bands will be participating with announcements on Pitchforkmedia.com every week up to the day of the festival. The two-day event is going to be in Union Park, CHICAGO, for only... wait for it... 30 BUCKS! If you calculate it out, it's only $0.82 per band. With the line-up so far, this is going to be a sick show. Tickets are on sale right ...

CAN'T STAND YA!
The most amazing band in the world (excluding D4 and the Larry Arms, shit... who else is left?) COSTANZA will be playing a set at the Note on Milly-walk-"A" ave, across from the Double Door.
The show is for the Emergenza Music Festival and it begins at 8p.m. COSTANZA goes on at 10p.m.
Advance tickets can be reserved for 10 bucks by AIM = dontpushmesohard or by sending a message to the account at www.myspace.com/costanzaisbiggerthangod
This should be quite the performance of DCP (Drunken Chicago Punk) in it's pure-est form.
Band members include Zachary C from The Hemingway Method (www.myspace.com/thehemingwaymethod) as well as Miles W from G.F.Y. and Brian W from Esparanto!
Also, we're told Ashlee Simpson and Kelly Clarkson were invited, as well as several local chicago-land celebrities... ok, it was just Bob Roooooooooooooarman. But still, that's pretty sweet, no? Be there or be a JERK! |

Would you rather be punched in the arm or the leg?
That's what it's like deciding if I want to see Ben Folds in Milwaukee WI (3-12-06) or Decatur IL (3-14-06) seeing how on his latest tour he's decided to skip Illini U and Chicagoland all together! Let's see I can either go see him at the taint of the midwest or the asshole (respectively). |

If the Shout Out Louds had a baby with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, you'd have the noisiest -- yet hippest -- baby in the world. |
